NEVER take bonds out unless you really have to, it will destroy your credit and you be in debt if you don't pay it(plus interest)When sending materials from towns to other, if you really want to make money, learn what town needs and have the materials they need shipped to them while you do the same with the materials supplied by them.
This is good to know when to retire(get rid of them) or replace(get rid of the train but the new train you pick follows the old path your train you just got rid of) it.always replace your locomotives after its operating for 25-30 years. Last model comes out in 45, PPR I think.Diseals-45 and up, Are decent models, not too fast or slow, cost some money to run but usually don't break down as much as Electric.- Used to haul cargo.Electirc-Expensive to buy and expensive to run but fast and don't usually break down on later models-Used to haul people.Alway's look at your trains info every couple of years like Revune, Maintenace, Fuel etc. Dont take any cars from below.Thats the real basics, if you can't get that, your the early campaign once you get the understanging of the real basics or play a Sneario2.Be extremely careful with your money in the begining and only build and buy what you need3.When starting on a new map in any game, alway's look for two cities that are the closest towards each other.4.Locomotives(My opionon).Steam-First units you get, most are pieaces of S., not until 1906 until you get anything good, but they do there job as there supposed to. This is achieved simply double clicking on the train(In the box menu) then goto a station like New York and it wil show what New York Supplies.
Once your did with building and buying,make sure your trains only haul what comes from the stations.
Then buy a train or two if you build the double lane tracks or single lane tracks.
